Description

The Struutz family return from holidays after the fall of the Berlin Wall in time to see their house destroyed to make room for a new golf course.

It gets worse when Udo inherits a nearly-bankrupt garden gnome factory in Landwitz near Dresden, whose corrupt mayor not only plans to destroy the peaceful life of Landwitz and turn it into a center for East-West trade, but also starts chasing Udo’s wife. Udo enlists the help of adventurer Charlie. Together they battle the odds in a fight that takes them from Landwitz to Manhattan’s rooftops and the Elbe sandstone mountains. Would Udo be capable to beat the impossible, to save Landwitz, gnome factory and his family?

“While ‘Go Trabi Go’ was a nice family comedy that played off cliches about East and West against each other, its sequel puts its finger in the wound that has not healed, and for many is still open today. Rural exodus, expropriation, East Germans being ripped off by West Germans… Thirty years after its initial release, ‘Go Trabi Go 2’ is proving to be a downright visionary.” – Spielfilme.de

“Charming sequel to the reunion hit.” – Ferhnsehserien.de

“What in most other areas is still just utopia and political wishful thinking, Kloos and Bueld have achieved, at least when it comes to film comedy: the East has reached the level of the West.” – Filmdienst.de
