Description

An experience beyond total fear.
Peter Medak directed this creepy tale of horror with George C. Scott as John Russell, a widowed music professor who moves into a haunted mansion in Seattle. He hires Claire Norman, a local historical society worker, to help him investigate the story behind the old house. Claire and John discover that the spirit inhabiting the house belongs to a boy murdered by his father in an effort to collect an inheritance. When the father found out that he couldn’t collect on the inheritance until his son became twenty-one, he replaced his murdered son with a substitute. The father’s replacement has now grown into a wealthy senator, Joe Carmichael. John contacts him to warn him about the child spirit, who wants revenge upon Carmichael. But Carmichael thinks that John is trying to blackmail him about his past life.
