East Germany, 1988: The death of a Western female tourist in the Harz Mountains gives rise to unprecedented happenings…
In these times of new political openness between the GDR and the FRG, the East and the West conduct a joint investigation for the very first time. Juliane falls off a cliff and plummets to her death. Police officer Karl Albers doubts that it was an accident, so he marks the cause of death as “undetermined” in the report before sending it to the West. Investigator Nadja Paulitz from the State Office of Criminal Investigation is sent to the East to investigate with him. Karl and his commanding officer, Captain Wieditz, work with Nadja objectively, while district leader Egon POlz does everything in his power to quickly close the case and be rid of the unwanted visitor from the West…
