Stralsund Commissioner Nina Petersen investigates murder and other criminal cases in the northeastern Hanseatic city on the Baltic Sea.

Nina is an energetic young woman whose pragmatic way of dealing with criminals benefits her work. Petersen had a strong will and a sharp mind and she is completely absorbed in her cases. Petersen has feelings for the victims and sometimes she crosses personal boundaries in the process. At her side is Chief Detective Karl Hidd, who takes his job a little more calmly.
