Description

After the death of her estranged mother, a young woman returns from a failed Hollywood career to the small Texas town she left behind to take custody of her young sister and face her troubled past.
Cotton is only 10 when her alcoholic mother dies. Her sister Sunny comes back to the fading town of Bent Arrow, Texas, hoping to patch things up with her mom after a long estrangement, but she’s too late. And Sunny certainly didn’t expect to be charged with responsibility for a younger sister. It’s a difficult transition, but Cotton is full of love, optimism, and hope, so Sunny makes an effort to stick it out. Cotton is very close with Butch, her eccentric neighbor, an ex-football player who spends his time with his horse, his guitar, and his watercolor postcards. Cotton counts on Butch for just about everything and determines that he and Sunny would make a wonderful set of parents for her. What Cotton didn’t count on, however, was the awful secret her sister brought home and the actions of the mean, heavy-drinking boyfriend Sunny left behind in her hometown…
“We’ve got a quality film more than competently made, and if you like romantic films ’Watercolor Postcards’ is a strong example of the genre. There’s a lot that goes right with this one; a skilled cinematic endeavor from start to finish.” – Film Threat
“One of the main draws to ’Watercolor Postcards’, aside from its positive message, is the wonderful cast. Film is colored with an array of brilliant character actors. ’Watercolor Postcards’ is a fine and gripping drama. It presents the classic Thorton Wilder ’Our Town’ sensibility, centered on a variety of characters with a past that can span an epic thousand tales over.” – Cinema Crazed
“Bailee Madison, as Cotton, is unbelievably good in the central role. Rajeev Dassani captures everything well: the picture got me invested in its players and its narrative. The strong cast allowed the writer and director to tell a nice, turbulent, realistic tale about life in a declining Texan town.” – Net-flixation
