Marketing student Emma Clark is looking forward to her semester break with her boyfriend Robert, which is scheduled to begin with a visit to her mother Maggie on the family’s beautiful farm. There she plans to tell him that she’s pregnant.

But since Robert doesn’t want to go right away, she tells him the news before they leave. He reacts unexpectedly negatively and wants nothing to do with a child. Bitterly disappointed, she ends the relationship, but she wants to keep the child no matter what. She is very unhappy when she arrives at the farm with her mother Maggie and her brother Henry. There she learns that the farm is in serious financial difficulties because her late father secretly took out mortgages with the Harrington Bank. Emma decides to sell a valuable silver service she inherited and goes to an auction. On the way, she meets the attractive Paul Harrington, heir to the long-established Harrington silver manufacturer…
