As soon as they meet Ari and Sam get into a pretty passionate – and combustible – relationship. Indeed, the scenes of their rendezvous often seem reminiscent of the Chicago Fire.
Ari and Sam meet in a Chicago nightclub. They have sex on the fire escape, only to accidentally start a fire. The two move into an intensely passionate relationship but find that every time they have sex their unique biochemistry has a habit of igniting fires and they experience pyrokinesis. However, as their love affair does not run smoothly, their friends Liam and Pia intervene to try to help. At one point when Sam is angry with Ari, Liam helps Ari to serenade her with a rendition the Soft Cell song Tainted Love.
