Description
Six months earlier, all was still right with the world.
Randolph Tiefenthaler and his wife Rebecca move with their two children into a beautiful late-19th-century townhouse. One condition of the purchase was that Mr. Tiberius, the brother of the former owner, would continue living in the basement apartment. The architect and his family suspect nothing amiss when Mr. Tiberius from the basement apartment leaves a cake at their door on the very day they move in. But soon, the neighbor from downstairs begins to feel unsettling. His mere presence poisons their everyday life.
“My home is my castle,” as the saying goes — but this family no longer has any space to retreat to. The Tiefenthalers’ nerves are frayed: instead of everyday life, fear now dominates. Yet neither the police nor a lawyer can offer any help. Then Hermann Tiefenthaler, a retired police officer, offers his son his assistance…
