Description
Miyamoto Musashi, the legendary swordsman, faces an impossible challenge: to combat 588 enemies—one after another—with no margin for error or reliance on outdated, trivial movements.
In 1604, Musashi launched a daring assault on the Yoshioka family dojo, defeating master Seijuro and his younger brother Denshichiro in two decisive duels. To restore their honor, the Yoshioka family responded by rallying all 100 of their members, plus several hundred additional samurai, to face Musashi in battle. Now, he embarks on one of the most legendary confrontations in samurai history. What follows is an unprecedented 77-minute, single-shot action sequence—an unbroken, adrenaline-fueled spectacle—showcasing Musashi’s relentless rampage as he triumphs over one opponent after another. Tak Sakaguchi, renowned Japanese action star, fight choreographer, and stuntman, takes on the role of the iconic samurai, delivering a gripping, no-holds-barred performance previously brought to life by Toshiro Mifune in the Samurai Trilogy. Conceptualized by celebrated director and writer Sion Sono, this film promises to become a new classic in the samurai genre—an electrifying, raw, and unforgettable cinematic achievement.
“’Crazy Samurai Musashi’ teams Shimomura with Tak Sakaguchi and shows how these two can work miracles together. Add to this team up the writing of Sion Sono and the film that comes out the other end becomes a must see…” – Cinema Crazed
“Cinema this bold is rare indeed and deserves to be celebrated.” – Eye For Film
“In the end, Crazy Samurai Musashi emerges as an impressive feat of fight choreography and of physical stamina on both sides of the camera, not least from its indefatigable star Tak Sakaguchi.” – Screen International
