Description
A mysterious, erotic and haunting love story between a professor at Puerto Rico’s leading University and an aspiring artist from the immigrant Chinese community.
Set in 1994, it follows a Professor at Puerto Rico’s top university who is also a renowned author. He’s losing interest in his position, for writing, and for life. When he is not working, he is in a complicated arrangement with his ex-wife.
Things get even more complicated when he meets Li Chao, a Chinese student who’s been sending him messages. One thing leads to another and the two end up in an affair. Through her, he feels revitalized. Though is it worth risking his job and reputation? And what is Li Chao getting out of it? And does she have anything to do with his colleague Carmen Lindo?
“This beautiful love story feels emotionally `clumsy` to younger audiences who may be more jaded about affairs of the heart today. But there is something wondrous about seeing a man fall so completely head over heels in love on-screen, as was common in earlier more innocent era (because it is more natural to what the human heart truly wants). Of course, the heart wants the whole package.” – Bay Area Reporter
“Morales and Li are at least as passionate as Mickey Rourke was with Kim Basinger. Solid entry in the venerable genre of `bodice rippers.`” – A Different Drummer
“Presents the fascinating layers of oppression, loneliness, sexual violence, mystery and loss.” – The San Juan Star
