When her mother arrives to pick her up after practice one evening, there is no trace of her.

Nele Sommer is a young, ambitious synchronised swimmer, despite her inherited diabetes. After a training session, Nele disappears. Has the student, who is heavily controlled by her father, run away, or has she been the victim of a violent crime? A gruelling search for clues begins. Not only gruelling for the police, but also for the parents, who make serious accusations against each other. Nele’s father appears to be lying about his actual whereabouts on the evening his daughter disappeared. Could he have something to do with her disappearance, or is there something else behind it? A genetic test seems to provide a lead, but all of the man’s known relatives are ruled out as culprits. Ingo Thiel and his team have reached a dead end. But then a 30-year-old postcard from a man who has since died provides the investigators with a crucial clue…
