Description

The life of three sisters shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Germany 1987. Two sisters and their grown-up children find themselves on different sides of the political fence in a rapidly disintegrating East Germany. Margot (48) is a major in the state security service (Stasi), Lotte (44) is in the opposition. We meet the women in the chaotic years between 1987 and 1990 as they fight for their ideals. A third sister, believed drowned years before, turns up in the West with a secret to tell on the eve of the fall of the Wall.
Produced and co-written by Gabriela Sperl, renowned for the historic two-part series March of Millions, The Wall looks at the economic and moral fall of East Germany through the eyes of three sisters.
“With ‘The Wall’ ZDF has succeeded in producing a thoroughly multi-layered and exciting story from the time of the fall of communism, which knows how to entertain. Above all, the many great leading actors, with their differentiated and pointed portrayals, raise the mini-series to a level that is well worth seeing.” – Brutstatt.de
“Exciting mixture of spy actioner, economy crime thriller, family tragedy and historical drama.” – T-online.de
“’The Wall’ creates a large social panorama overall. This is what makes the three-part TV series so worth watching.” – Geschichte-Wissen.de
