Description

After a musician commits suicide, the discovery of his dead body by his eccentric neighbors is recorded by the dead man’s web cam.
An artist kills himself in front of his computer’s web cam. There’s a knock on the door, an ordinary looking man – his neighbour – walks in and sees the man’s dead body. So begins a series of farcical exits and entrances, including, neighbours, real estate agents, opportunistic funeral directors, paramedics, police, and amusingly, a pizza delivery man. Each offers their own, unguarded take on the suicide. All this is captured by a switched on web camera, which records unnoticed.
“Once the apartment’s living room begins to fill with various interested parties, the skill of the director comes to the fore; in choreographing the events and in presenting various facets of Serbian society.” – CineVue
“In dialogues imbued with sophisticated humor I did experience a pleasant feeling of satisfaction, accompanied by a tiny smile that often played on my lips. The entire acting team is to be commended, with the excellent Emir Hadžihafizbegović at the helm, who responds perfectly to the demands of one-shot recording.” – Filmski koticek
“As a comedy of manners and satire of the Balkan mentality, ’Death of a Man in the Balkans’ is often sharp and observant, and as more characters bundle through the door, it sometimes looks like Momčilović may have the ingredients for a pitch-black farce.” – Phil on Film
