Description

A fading Hollywood star looks back at the days of his youth as he returns home from his best friend’s funeral.
Joe Scot is a once-successful British actor in Los Angeles whose career and personal life are collapsing under alcohol, drugs, and empty affairs. When he learns that his childhood best friend Boots has died, he walks into the ocean and the film shifts into an extended flashback to his teenage years in a small English coastal town in the 1970s. As a teenager, Joe is torn between Ruth, a kind girl he genuinely cares for, and Evelyn, an older married neighbor who seduces him, leading to betrayal, the death of Evelyn’s young daughter in a freak accident, and Joe’s guilt‑ridden decision to run away and never return.
“Impressively directed and superbly acted by a terrific cast, this is both a nostalgia-fuelled coming-of-age tale and a genuinely moving drama about making peace with the past.” – View London
“It’s strikingly shot, perfectly played, and rather well scored.” – Sky Cinema
“Extremely well-filmed, with terrific performances from the entire cast.” – Shadows on the Wall
