A chief commissioner investigates the murder of a young woman and a fatal car accident. Apparently there is a connection between the two cases.
Lars and Kirsten Eckert lead a happy life with their family, until the day Lars picks up his daughter Anna from hockey practice and there is a terrible accident. Eleven-year-old Anna dies at the scene. Lars testifies that he was distracted by some kind of flash, but both his wife Kirsten and Inspector Johannes Fischer find it hard to believe that anyone else was at fault. The investigation leads him to a deadly web of relationships that fatefully brought together people who initially had nothing to do with one another.
